About Me

Deborah and Mortimer
With a BA honours degree in Fashion and Marketing, I have always worked in creative industries, from designer womenswear companies to running my own corporate design business for ten years. However, interior design was always my real passion, so in 2010 I took the plunge and enrolled on a course at the well renowned KLC School of Design in Chelsea.
I felt it was time to do something for myself; to embark on a new career path and do something I love. I was completely inspired by the course and my hard work was rewarded with the grade of Distinction and Top Student for my year group.
Since graduating I have been lucky enough to work on some wonderful and varied residential and commercial projects in London, Hampshire, Sussex and Wiltshire.
I work from home in West London where I live with my husband, two teenage sons and very boisterous dog Mortimer.

What I Can Offer You

If you have ever considered commissioning an interior designer, but worried that it seems too expensive or elitist, then you may want to reconsider. Good design gives you the home you really want but also boosts the value and appeal of your property whilst space management efficiently maximises the use of every part of your home.
You know what you like, but not quite sure how to put it together; whether itʼs confidence or just lack of time. This is where I come in, by taking the lead from your brief, I guide you and help you discover your own taste resulting in a warm and homely, effortless style which will never look contrived or over done.
I love a mix of textures and colours along with new and vintage furniture and youʼll often find a re-upholstered chair or two in my scheme: if you like a ʻshow homeʼ look, then Iʼm not the designer for you!
No matter how big or small the project, I can help. Whether you just need a few hours of general advice to get started or a full scale building redesign and refurbishment, I can take the stress away and not only save you time but make sure you avoid making costly mistakes.
I can lend my years of professional and personal experience to achieve projects that run on time and on budget.

Services

Although I wound down my business when my boys were small, I continued to work as a freelance illustrator so I love creating visuals for my clients. Concepts and mood boards; plans and perspective sketches all serve to help clients easily imagine their new space. Whilst it does increase my fee, many of my clients find this really helpful rather than just looking at collections of fabric swatches and furniture individually.

Other service include:
  • Decorative and colour schemes
  • Sourcing furniture including upholstery, fabrics, lighting and accessories
  • Bespoke furniture design and storage solutions
  • Window treatments
  • Bathroom design and kitchen advice
  • Lighting plans
  • Full design implementation and project management

My fees are tailored to each project but discounts I offer through my trade contacts usually go some way to cover them.
